Join us as we mark one of the biggest (and most controversial) events on the wine calendar…
This week, wine lovers across the world will be sampling the very first of this year’s red wine crop, with the uncorking of 2014 vintage Beaujolais Nouveau.
Produced in the Beaujolais region of France, just south of Burgundy, Beaujolais Nouveau breaks with the tradition of laying down red wines to mature and is best enjoyed young. Made from Gamay grapes the wine is fresh, fruity and eminently quaffable; having only been bottled for a few weeks and thus lacking the structure and depth of other reds.
While Beaujolais Nouveau has its detractors, who can resist a reason to celebrate with wine?!
We’re stocking a limited selection of just 30 bottles at ‘the loft’ this year, priced at just £9.99 each, so why not find out for yourself whether you’re a Beaujolais Nouveau lover or loather and pop in to pick up a bottle (or two)? Best served lightly chilled (pop in the fridge for 15-20 minutes before serving) these are wines we definitely recommend you polish off in the next few weeks to enjoy at their best.
Beaujolais Nouveau 2014 vintage will be available from mid-day on Friday, 21st November – hurry and snap up your supply because when they’re gone, they’re gone!
‘The Loft’ is open Thursday and Friday 12 noon – 7pm; Saturday 11am – 7pm and Sunday 11am – 4.30pm.
