Mâcon Villages Chardonnay 2013

£11.50

The Mâconnais is a region in southern Burgundy best known for its often stupendously good value white wines. There are some high quality appellations here such as Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé, which offer affordably tasty alternatives to the Côte d’Or, but it is also worth scouring the villages for lesser-known nuggets of goodness. The Mâcon-Villages appellation makes Chardonnay whites from across the region, though with more of a quality focus than the basic Mâcon appellation. These wines are lighter than most other white Burgundy wines.Though they can still offer that satisfying creaminess you expect in good, oh-so-drinkable Burgundian Chardonnay. This is certainly one of those wines that keeps on giving, all smoky and appley and citrussy, lovely with young, fresh cheese or shellfish. 12.5% Abv 750ml
